Reservation and Payment
- Travel designer: After you enquire, a travel designer works with you one-to-one until the plan fits. Starting this planning does not require a separate design fee.
- Deposit: A 30% deposit of the total trip cost confirms your reservation and your acceptance of these terms.
- Balance: The remaining 70% is due 30 days before departure. We collect the balance only when a valid visa is in hand, or visa-free entry is confirmed — see Passports and Visas.
Cancellation and Refund
If you need to cancel, write to us. We calculate any charge from the date (Beijing time) we receive your written cancellation. The figures below are a percentage of the total trip price, unless a different rule is agreed in writing for that booking.
Long-stay bookings
Small group tours and private journeys share this schedule. A "month" means 30 calendar days. If a cancellation falls on a boundary day, the more generous band applies (the lower charge). A no-show is treated as a cancellation 7 days or fewer before departure. Exceptional cases are handled trip by trip.
- 31 or more days before departure: 20% of the total price.
- 8 to 30 days before departure: 50% of the total price.
- 7 days or fewer before departure, including no-show: 70% of the total price.
Short experiences
Day tours, half-day tours, and short city trips are paid in full when you book. If you cancel before the experience, the loss is 80% of the total, unless we agree otherwise in writing for that booking.
Third-party non-refundable costs
Where we have already paid suppliers for costs that cannot be refunded — including cruises, flights, and non-refundable hotels — any amount that exceeds the cancellation band above is deducted at cost.
Visa refusal
If a visa is refused, any refund is limited to costs not yet incurred.
Refund process
Please cancel in writing by email. We calculate any charge from the date (Beijing time) we receive your written cancellation. All refunds are processed within 20 days of receipt.
Alteration of the Itinerary
- For any changes made prior to the beginning of the tour, there will be no charge for our services. However, if there are any costs due to the reservation changes, you will be responsible to pay for this part.
- After the tour begins, any extra charges caused by clients' changes will be added to the total. Any unused portion is neither refundable nor exchangeable.
Minimum Group Size
- Small Group Tours: A small group tour is a scheduled group product, distinct from a private journey. We guarantee departures on tours with 2 travelers — please see individual tour pages for details. We reserve the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a passenger should such person's health or mental condition or physical infirmity or general deportment impede the operation of the trip or the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other passengers.
- Private Tours: Land services are exclusive to you, your family or your friends. No other participants will join your group during land services. Cruise excursions may be shared. For the whole of your tour, we will provide you with a private guide and driver. You will have flexibility within reason to agree with your guide on your daily departure time, sightseeing time and even mealtimes.
Passports and Visas
- Please make sure you have a valid passport and visa before leaving for China. For those who may be qualified for a visa free stay, we suggest you confirm this with your local embassy or consulate.
- If your tour arranged by us includes other countries, please check and follow the visa policy of each country you are going to visit.
- A valid visa in hand, or confirmed visa-free entry, is a condition of collecting the remaining 70% balance. We check this about 45 days before departure.
Dietary Requirements
- Please inform us if you have food allergies of any type.
- Vegetarian, vegan or gluten free meals can be arranged. If you are a vegetarian, please confirm if you eat egg, cheese, yoghurt, fish.
- Tell us your food dislikes — e.g. no peppers/onions/mushrooms/coriander or no pork/chicken/fish/lamb/beef or other foods.
Additional Information
- We suggest that you purchase travel insurance that covers a wide range of unforeseen losses and damages, including baggage damage, flight delays and cancellations.
- Please be sure to check carefully your international and domestic air tickets you purchased so that you are fully aware of the policies of the airline companies.
- Upon checking in at hotels, guests are expected to offer a valid credit card authorization to guarantee payment of any possible personal expense (e.g. laundry) during your stay.
- The majority of 4 to 5-star hotels in China are equipped with the central air conditioning. It will be turned on in winter and summer days, however, during the transition seasons in spring and autumn, the hotel will decide whether to turn on the air conditioner according to the actual weather conditions on that day, which is out of our control. Some hotels can provide the air fan on request.
- On a non-shopping tour, we arrange no stop at the commission based tourist shops or factory stores, but some attractions may have a shop at their entry or exit so we cannot avoid passing through them. For travelers who want to shop for gifts or souvenirs, the marketplace is a good choice.
- Since most places in Tibet Autonomous Region are higher than 3,000 meters (9,843 feet), Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), also called Altitude Sickness is the biggest health risk to tourists in Tibet. Visitors having record of heart, lung, other organ problems or anemia should consult their doctor before making the decision to visit Tibet.
